About

Ministry Care has been developed by Gary M Reed, a licensed professional counselor and ordained minister.  In 2005, after 21 plus years in local church ministry, of which 13 were counseling in church settings, Gary left the counseling ministry to the surprise of many, including his family.  By God’s grace he was able to get professional help and find restoration for himself, his marriage and children.  IMG_1981

In time, many friends have learned Gary left the staff at Harvester Christian Church in 2005, after dealing with a form of burnout called ‘compassion fatigue”.  A known syndrome to numerous counselors, compassion fatigue left Gary emotionally drained and caused him difficulty ministering on Sundays with people whom he counseled in his office.  At that time, Gary didn’t realize how his people pleasing personality was choking the life out of him and believing the myth that ministers were not allowed to have problems.

Seeking God’s healing within himself and with his family, God provided Gary the opportunity to develop specific knowledge and training regarding employee health (self care) while employed with a behavioral health care corporation.  (read more)

Ministry Care

The mission exists to help ministry leaders and staff members to build and maintain a ministry that is productive, effective and enduring.

Many say Ministry Care is a warehouse of resources and a clearing house of services for those on the front lines of godly service.  Interested leaders can subscribe to a bi-monthly E-letters promoting “self-care” in leaders, staff and family members.  Gary and Ministry Care volunteers are easily accessible by e-mail (gary@ministrycare.org), phone (314) 629-7110 or skype.
